Miss Mairi S

I am passionate about languages, intercultural communication and building bridges between non-English speakers both at home and abroad. I have an Honours degree in German and Arabic, A level French and Japanese Language Proficiency Test Level 3 (equivalent to GCSE). I taught myself Italian in 2009, achieving A* at GCSE, and have basic Spanish. I have taught Modern Foreign Languages for over 20 years at both primary and secondary levels. My main subject is German which I teach to A level. I also teach French and Arabic to KS3. I believe that language learning should be fun! I create a secure learning environment where my students feel confident to be creative and take risks. I am committed to supporting my students to achieve their personal goals. I am patient, supportive and encouraging, helping my students to build on strengths as well as identifying and areas for development.

Mrs Verena C

I am Head of the German department at a successful Grammar School in the South East of England and a German native speaker. In addition to that I also work as an examiner for several exam boards and I train trainee teachers of German to become German teachers. I have been teaching German up to A-Level for over 15 years at Grammar School level, whilst privately tutoring any age group, including primary school children, adults who wish to learn the German language from scratch and university students who study the language at degree level. In 2019 I was awarded the German Teacher of the Year award by the Embassy of Switzerland.
